Kelley Lewis is a single mother of three small children, who built her own tiny house next to Lake Sylvan in Ohio. The 192 square foot house they use as an off-grid weekend home. Kelley and her kids lives in a town nearby, where they can go to public school.
The tiny house measures 16×12 foot, and has a front and back porch. The ceiling height is 16 foot, where we find a sleeping loft with two beds. The downstairs has an open great room, a kitchen with bar, and bathroom with a sink, standup shower, and composting toilet. The house sits right next to the lake on a 1.3 acres property.
The tiny cabin is not connected to the electricity grid, so its powered with a gas generator and has a water pump and filtration system with water being pulled from the lake. The family uses a wood burning stove to keep warm the house inside.
According to official rules the house had a maximum of 200 square feet. Kelley didn't want to have a mobile house on wheels, but still wanted to kept the design small. She hired a professional shed-building company, to build the foundation, the platform, the frame and the walls, and get the cabin under roof. From this point she was able to take the project to her own hand.
